5 Reasons Why Your Business Needs Email Marketing

You are stressed. I mean you are not stressed because of any personal reason. You are stressed for your marketing campaigns are not giving you the expected ROI.Well, who won’t be? We all want a good return on every marketing dollar we spend. But we seldom get, isn’t? That’s why it is imperative to choose a right marketing channel.

In today’s post, I’m going to talk about why your business needs email marketing. After reading this post, you will understand how email marketing can double your growth, if not triple.Engineer Ray Tomlinson, the inventor of the first email system, didn’t think that email would become an essential part of human life when he sent the first mail on June 8, 1971.According to Radicati report,“The total number of worldwide email accounts is expected to increase from nearly 3.9 billion accounts in 2013 to over 4.9 billion accounts by the end of 2017.”This simply means email marketing has a huge scope, even greater than social media. Let’s dig into why you should start email marketing:

1- A Large Audience Reach

You think social media has a wide reach, right?Wrong. Email has a wider reach. Against around 4.9 billion email accounts, there are around 2.51 billion social accounts.Think about people’s online behavior – to sign up for a website one needs an email account, to create a social account, one needs an email account, to shop online, one needs an email account. It seems we can’t live without email accounts. Email has become the currency of the web. So, when it comes to reaching out to your prospects and customers, email is the best channel than any other channel. And the best thing,Email helps you reach people on any device. So email marketing can provide your business with a wide reach.

2- Targeted and Personal Marketing

So you have marketing tools like radio, TV commercials, print ads, direct mail. Tell me how well these tools target your prospects. In the reality, they are impersonal because they are mass marketing tools. Even you can’t personalize online ads and social media posts. But when it comes to email marketing, you have tools like Aweber, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, which allow you to segment your audience based on interests. And then, you can target these segmented groups with personalized messages. Personalized outreach yields a better engagement. In other words, email marketing, being targeted and personalized, offers a higher ROI.

3- Easy Tracking

In comparison with other marketing channels, emails are easier to track. So you can measure the success of your email campaigns without much hassle.

  • Overall ROI

There are is no other better marketing channel that can offer such precise and usable tracking information. And this all what all marketers want.

Making email marketing your leading marketing weapon will allow you to know the exact return on every dollar you spend.

4- No Big Budget Required

I shouldn’t be talking about the cost effectiveness of email marketing. It is so obvious – no print costs, no postages fees. As compared to mainstream marketing channels, email marketing costs you the lowest.

Email marketers have to spend on specialized software to automate and track emails. But this cost is also not bigger than the amount you will have to shell out for any other marketing channel. That’s why email marketing is a preferred medium for marketers to hack growth.

5- High Return-On-Investment

Ace online marketer, Neil Patel believes on email marketing than any other channel when it comes to ROI. He said,

“Out of all the channels I tested as a marketer, email continually outperforms most of them. Not only does it have a high conversion rate, but as you build up your list you can continually monetize it by pitching multiple products.”

Joe Pulizzi, the founder of Content Marketing Institute, also believes the same,

“Email is the most scalable way to make sales with new customers and build deeper relationship with deeper customers.”

Email marketing offers a higher return-on-investment because of targeted and personalized campaigns, and lower operating cost.

To run successful email marketing campaigns, you need to have a long list of emails. Of Course one cannot build an email list overnight. You should follow effective email list building techniques on a regular basis to grow the list organically.

  5. Hey Nisha,

    Very Interesting Post.

I agree with you on the point that Email Marketing has wider reach, but I believe that many of those email accounts will be of those people who do not open it regularly, but still it has great reach, which we can use not only to promote our product, but we can build a big brand, if used correctly.

Although I have not been into email marketing professionally, I just do it occasionally as I am in affiliate marketing, so I do not get time for it, but still whenever I have used email marketing, it has given me good results.

By the ways, thanks for the post Nisha.
