Microsoft could be launching Windows 10 anytime in the next few weeks. And the easiest way to have a Windows 10 device is to own the new Lumia 430. The dual-sim phone comes with Windows Phone 8.1, but can be upgraded to Windows 10, Microsoft announced.
The Lumia 430 is one of the most affordable Lumias. It has been promoted with a price tag of just $70. It can be easily classified as a feature-phone rather than a smartphone.
The Microsoft Lumia 430 features a 4-inch capacitive display with 235 ppi pixel density. It has a 1.2-GHz dual core Cortex A7 CPU over a Snapdragon 200 chipset. The primary camera has a 2-megapixel lens and can capture videos at 480p at 30 fps.
Despite having 8GB of internal storage, the expansion slot allows it to be stacked up to 128GB. The 1GB RAM enables a flawless performance from a relatively simpler Lumia.
The phone has a 1,500 mAh Li-Ion battery that allows up to 13 hours of talktime and 47 hours of music playback.
The cameras are perhaps too weak. If Microsoft could have fitted it with better lenses, the Lumia 430 could have made it to an entirely different class. Lumias are usually known for their cameras, but Microsoft seems to have disappointed users with this phone.
The “dual-SIM” phone will be launched in regions where the feature is more popular. The other Lumias in the budget category include Lumia 530, Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL.
Microsoft has been working on a number of other Lumia phones. But it is apparent that the tech giant is yet to release a top-end Lumia that was not designed by Nokia.
Yet it seems to be doing well with the brand, despite having its fair share of failures with tablets over the years.
