With the time passage of time new competitors have emerged in smartphone bazaar. Out of the top-notch smartphone companies one is Sony which has recently came with a slim device called Sony Xperia T3 having great list of features and specifications. The only thing I don’t agree with its price as other smartphone having common specs come with slightly less price tags.
Let’s get started with the details of Sony Xperia T3:
Design and Body
Sony has adopted a basic design since the release of its Xperia Z. The new member to Xperia series i.e. Xperia T3 has also gained similarity to the Z with some tugs. The phone looks premium with a band made of stainless steel covered by the side of the phone’s boundaries. Whilst the back of the device comes with three colors – black, purple and white just like other smartphone from the same manufacturer like Sony Xperia M, Sony Xperia C etc. The USB port is placed on the left corner side while the right side is crammed full with camera key, volume control key, switch on/off key, SIM card slot and external SD card slot.
The T3 having 7mm (0.28 inches) thickness seems to be the slimmest device by Sony ever. User have to carry 148 grams of weight while they carry the phone, though this falls in the basic weight trend in market and seems handy. Other body dimensions include height 5.93 inches and breadth 3.03 inches. One feature which might disappoint a lot of users is Sony hasn’t made it with waterproof and shockproof technology like other members of “Xperia” family.
The IPS LCD display of 5.3 inches in the smartphone supports multitouch upto 4 fingers and has resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The screen has pixel density of 277ppi which is not great but thanks to Sony for throwing in Triluminos display as well as Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 which could make the screen look better.
Hardware and Software
Running on a quad-core processor of 1.4 GHz (Cortex-A7), the Sony Xperia T3 is chipped to Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset along with Adreno 305 Graphics Processor Unit. The 1 Gigs of RAM will be enough to carry on heavy tasks and give speedy performance. Inside, the users get only 8 GB of storage space while they will be able to expand it upto 32 GB only using microSD cards. It operates on one of the recent OS i.e. Android KitKat v4.4.2 tipped with its own UI just like other devices.
The inhouse applications from Sony includes Facebook, Walkman, Video Unlimited Smart Connect, Navigation, Update Centre, NeoReader, TrackID, Sony Select, Support and a little more.

On the back corner just like other Xperia devices, the Sony Xperia T3 packs an 8 megapixel camera with flashlight and holds 1.1 megapixels front snapper. If we talk about video recording the phone holds capacity of recording 1080p videos @30fps as well as an HDR feature too. While the front one record 720p videos at same frames per second. It has Sony’s Exmor RS for mobile sensor also.
On the other hand the camera features include Panorama, AR Effect, Portrait Retouch, Timeshift Burst, Manual, Superior Auto (automatic scene se
lection) and Social Live. Camera capture good quality images but if you need to have something better than HDR mode will let you fulfil your desire. On the whole, Camera has decent quality for both recording and image capturing.
Network and Connectivity
Xperia T3 supports network from 2G, 3G as well as 4G in all the variants D5102, D5103 and D5106. Unfortunately the 4G variant is not launched in India till now but hope so Sony launches soon. On Connectivity side, it supports GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0, microUSB v2.0, USB host and NFC also. Network speed is as follows: HSUPA of around 5.8 Mbps while HSDPA of around 42 Mbps on the other side LTE-Cat4 having 50 Mbps uploading and 150 Mbps of downloading.
There is a Li-Ion non-removable battery of 2500 mAh which as per Sony will give Standby time of upto 639 hours on 2G network and 688 hours on 3G network while Talktime on 2G will be of around 13 hours and on 3G around 15 hours, a musicplay time of upto 63 hours is also there.
Availability and Price
Sony Xperia T3 is available online in three colors which I mentioned earlier also black, white and purple. The firm launched the device with a tag of 27,990 INR though the price varies on different online stores now ranging 25,500 to 27,000.
Verdict for Sony Xpera T3
The one and the only negative point which might stop users going for it is the price tag mentioned by Sony. Though, users get a premium case and a Sony SmartBand which might not make user happy too. The plus points for the T3 are its camera, sound quality and battery life but the negative include only price and slight Gaming performance also.
So, are you going to buy Sony Xperia T3 or just got any other device? Don’t forget to mention your precious feedback regarding our review or your own views in comments.
