Gas Powered Generator

Gas Powered Generator Reviews – How do They Compare?

When you think of a generator you likely think of either petrol or diesel as the power source, don’t you? These are arguably the two most common types of power for generators but far from your only options because you can always use gas.

LPG is a popular gas alternative for diesel. LPG or to give it its full name liquefied petroleum gas is something most generator professionals will have very strong opinions about. There are dedicated fans of gas generators but also people that think they are by far the worst option when it comes to generator fuels/ types.

LPG isn’t the only gas available though natural gas is actually the more common option and while these are both gases they are quite different in many respects.

So What’s The Verdict?

Because gas powered generator reviews are quite varied defining how they really compare to the other fuel types can be a little difficult but let’s see if we can’t clear things up a little. Below, I’ve listed some of the main features most people wanting a generator will need to consider. I’ll compare gas-powered generators to other types to see how things match up.

Cleanliness

Many people running a generator will know it won’t be the most eco-friendly way to generate power however many generators can still be quite “clean” when it comes to providing power. Natural gas is actually one of the cleanest fossil fuels available, especially when compared to things like coal, diesel, petrol, and oil. Propane or LPG is even cleaner and usually one of the generator types most recommended to people who want to protect the environment.

Cost

The cost of a generator is going to be the deciding factor for many people natural gas machines are actually one of the cheaper options while propane machines can vary. Propane generators are becoming more popular though and you feel find LPG options from many generator manufacturers.

Noise

Noise is another important area when it comes to buying a generator as they can be very noisy machines. Natural gas generators certainly are quite varied when it comes to their noise level as some natural gas generators can be quite noisy although still they will often be quieter than a diesel machine. Propane, on the other hand, is one of the quietest fuels for a generator. So, if noise is an issue opting for a propane fuelled machine could be a good idea.

Long-Lasting

Natural gas generators are usually quite long-lasting and durable machines that with the right care and upkeep can last a long time. Propane generators, on the other hand, can be quite complex machines so will often require a greater level of care and maintenance.

So, if you are looking for the best gas generator for your home or place of business then you now have a better idea of how they compare to the other fuel-types available. Gas may not be one of the more common types of fuel for a generator but it does have its own unique benefits.
