The Spec Refresh – Stronger ’Guts‘

The 21.5-inch iMac is now being updated after over two years and is getting a boost with Intel’s Broadwell processors. Skylake chips with Iris Pro graphics have not yet been introduced in the market yet and hence the iMac is making a pioneering upgrade.

The cheapest iMac includes a 1.6GHz dual-core i5, while the new 4K version begins with a 3.1GHz quad-core i5 — you’ll probably want to upgrade.

The processors upgrade means that the bigger iMac models will be featuring Iris Pro graphics, thus pushing the 4K machine’s pixels to their limits.

RAM has been improved from 8GB with 1600MHz LPDDR3 to 8GB of 1867GHz LPDDR3, and it can be upgraded to 16GB. Thunderbolt 2 and a bigger storage option are added to the mix too.
