This is a guest post by my colleague Mi Muba from Be A Money Blogger. He earlier contributed more than 1,000 posts in two UK-based popular blogs as ghost writer.
The ultimate aim of every blogger is money making. A thin minority of bloggers don’t care either they earn money or not but majority of them want to necessarily make at least a few bucks to pay monthly hosting fee of their blog.
It is also a fact that 97 per cent bloggers hardly earn 100 bucks per month. It means only 3 per cent bloggers grabbed the entire blogging income.
It is not an income disparity because high-earning bloggers earn big money with a proper strategy. But those who miss their share are actually responsible for this disparity.
Usually bloggers fail to earn huge money because they don’t have clear objectives of their venture. They welcome money but never hunt it. This is the main reason they remain part of the huge majority of those who earn peanuts.
A blogger needs to be clear in his goals of make money blogging. It is necessary to have quantified blogging objectives.
What are main goals of make money blogging?
Setting objectives is not a philosophy. It is an activity like you set your goal of reaching home from your workplace. So you need to be clear in your make money blogging objectives, as defined below.
Doing a business
Blogging means an activity to share your views online. But make money blogging itself is a business. You start a blog to earn money and for that you sell something on it. Either it is third party products or your own but ultimately you sell it. So there must be clarity in business objective of your money blog. You must have clear answer of following points:
- What to sell. Your own products and services or third party products with pay per click (PPC) or cost per action (CPA) basis.
- Whom to sell: You must define the age group, geographical background, area of interest and income group of your target audience
- How to sell: Through banner ads, reviews, referrals or simply inserting links in anchor text of your contents
Quitting your day job
A huge number of bloggers start blogging to quit their day job. How many of them succeed in this objective is not clear but those who start earning obviously sooner or later quit their day job. But their count is very limited. Even to quit you day job you need to have answer of following questions:
- How long to manage you blog and day job both
- Will you quit your day job just after earning from blog equal to your monthly salary or your target is more than this.
- How to manage your job while not or least affecting your day job?
Support your monthly income
This is the blogging objective of those who don’t want to quit their day job but want to add in their monthly income. It may be because of low salary in day job or to pay extra bills and meet expenses of child education and health care. Here again you need to be clear on:
- How do you get the target of minimum income from your blog?
- Do you have the skills to make money blogging or you will learn first and then achieve your goal?
As a side business
It means supporting your already running business to face the growing competition. You use blogging as a marketing tool to grow your business. For this purpose you need to have a plan specifying what you need to do that supports your business objectives. Your main objective is usually to expand your niche market and have direct access to it for more sales.
5. More money for more fun
If you are well established financially even then it is wise to make money blogging instead of just blogging for inner satisfaction or becoming famous. If you aim to earn money with your blog you will be able to assess your performance in quantified terms.
Else you will just be rejoicing on huge amount of satisfaction you derive from blogging but won’t prove your level of success in exact terms.
But the biggest benefit of earning money with your blog is more pleasures which you can get with extra money. So the best strategy is to make your basic goal of earning money and in addition to it, you can also achieve your secondary objectives of creating your community or sharing your views with them.
So these are the five common goal-setting tips to make money blogging like a pro with clarity of thoughts. If you are clear on your goals you can develop a proper strategy to achieve them. Without knowing how far your destination is how can you decide which source of transportation you should achieve to reach there?
